Making Customers Inactive
If you no longer want a customer or location to appear in customer searches or on reports you can make them inactive. This is similar to deleting a customer, although this method is much better because all older reports that reference that customer or location will still show properly. The same is not necessarily true when a customer is deleted.
Before you can make alocation inactive you will first need to make sure the following conditions are true.
Once you have verified that is true you can make a location inactive by recalling the customer on the Customer Entry screen, going to the Locations tab and removing the checkmark in the Active box. Save the customer and the location will be made inactive.
Making a customer inactive automatically makes all its locations inactive as well. As a result, you will have to make sure all locations for the customer meet the criteria listed above. In addition the customer themselves must not have an open accounts receivable balance. Remove the checkmark in the Active field on the General tab of the Customer Entry screen to make a customer inactive.
Inactive customers and locations can still be found by enabling the Display inactive records field on any customer search screen. When you do this you will be able to identify the inactive customers because they will be shown in light gray.
To reactive a customer or location, recall them on the customer entry screen using the search then check the Active box again.
