Install ESC

Step 2 - Estimated Time: 40 minutes

Create Database

You will now need to create a database for your company in ESC.

  1. Open ESC and select No when prompted to open a sample company.
  2. Go to the File pull-down menu and select New Company.
  3. Click Next to begin the new company setup wizard.
  4. Enter the word Service in the Database Name field. You can replace this with your company name if you would prefer but if you do this make sure it doesn't start with a number and doesn't contain spaces or punctuation. Leave the other fields alone and click Next.
  5. Complete all the steps in the new company setup wizard. If you don't know the answers to some of the questions just accept the defaults and click Next. All of this information can be changed later on after the database has been created.
  6. After the wizard is finished a screen will appear letting you know you are running a trial version of ESC. Click the Enter License Code button and enter the code we emailed you. If you don't have it convenient, don't worry about it, just click Try ESC Now. This will let you use the full features of the software, but you will continue see this screen each time you login until you enter the code or your trial expires.

Turn Off Firewall

In order for other computers to connect to the database you will have to turn off the firewall on the server. Once the connection has been established you can add exceptions to the firewall and enable it again, but for now just turn it off to ensure a smooth setup. The following procedure will show you how to turn off the Windows firewall. If you have a different firewall, please have your network administrator disable it now.

  1. Click the Windows Start button and select Control Panel.
  2. Select Windows Firewall. You may have to click System and Security before you can select Windows Firewall depending on your Windows settings.
  3. Click Turn Windows Firewall on or off on the left-hand side of the screen.
  4. Set all sections to Turn off Windows Firewall then click OK.
  5. Close out of any open windows.
